Luke and Ishael

Hello! We are Luke and Ishael.

We are so humbled and grateful that you would take the time to consider us to be a part of your journey. You are doing an incredible thing for your child through adoption, even though it may not feel like it. We want you to know that you and your child are special, valued, and loved.

Our desire to adopt comes mainly from our belief that every child is uniquely created by God and that children belong in families. We believe in God’s heart and purpose for adoption, that His love and great plans, especially for you, can be known in difficult moments like these.

Although we have been married for 5 years and have not been able to get pregnant, adoption has never been ‘plan b’ for us. Even before getting married, we knew that we wanted adoption to be part of how we grew our family. It is a part of Luke’s story (he is adopted and has an incredible relationship with his birth mom) and I have always had a heart for children in hard and vulnerable situations. We’ve talked about adopting for years, and while God has been quietly and consistently leading us to this, we are finally at a place in life where we can pursue it. Our desire for a family, for children, has grown throughout the years, so we are excited to see what God has for us!

We hope that as you look through our photos and read about us that you would see a couple that loves and values our faith, our marriage, our families and friends, seeing and experiencing the world, and enjoying life through it all. We hope that you would see that we have so much love and care to give our future children.

About Us

We “met” on Twitter through someone we both followed. Our tweets to each other turned into emails and texts over the course of 10 months. Luke then decided to ask if I would “date” him. A couple of months later, he flew to where I was so we could actually meet face to face! We knew very quickly after meeting that we wanted to get married. So here we are, 5 years later!

Luke (by Ishael): Luke is a kind, happy, funny, sensitive, caring, and attentive person. He is wise and thoughtful, sacrificial and a leader. He loves Jesus and he loves getting to teach young people about Jesus. Luke can make everyone in the room laugh, but he can also make individuals feel seen and cared for. He has a unique story that allows him to connect with people of all ages and all backgrounds. My favorite thing about him is that ever since we started dating he has always tried to put my needs/wants above his.

Ishael (by Luke): Ishael is caring, generous, and unbelievably compassionate. She can be quiet at first meeting but in reality is full of personality. Ishael has a big heart that enjoys serving others, and she’s always a welcoming presence in a room. She always connects easily with kids and they seem drawn to her, I love watching her play and interact with children. With adults, she is an amazing listener and takes time to process what others say. I’ve seen lots of people seek her out for wisdom, and I personally think she gives great advice. Ishael brings joy wherever she goes, her smile is contagious and she has a great sense of humor. Two of my favorite things about her is that she cares deeply about others and loves to go on adventures.

Our Life

Luke enjoys playing video games, reading, aquaponics, growing herbs, and playing and watching sports.

Ishael enjoys reading, cooking and baking, learning new art projects, trying different kinds of foods, and spending time with her 9 year old nephew- playing catch, baseball, and board games.

We both love to be outside, whether that’s walking our 2 dogs, riding bikes, walking or reading at a park, and occasionally playing tennis. When we can’t be outside, we enjoy just hanging out, watching tv shows or movies. When we travel to other cities, it usually involves exploring the city, going to the beach, trying new foods, and finding the best ice cream spots. We try and travel a few times a year to visit family or to go on vacation. We love getting to see our immediate family, but also our extended family which includes lots of relatives all around the US. One of our favorite things to do together is camping. We just love the simplicity of it and being out in pristine nature. Sometimes throughout the year we try and play recreational volleyball together. We also try and go to the beach at least once a year- it’s pretty much our dream place to live!

Church is a big part of our lives. At her former church, Ishael taught Sunday school and was a youth leader. Currently, we are helping with small groups and marriage care classes. Luke is also helping with the youth group.

We love our home and love that we can host meals with friends, game nights, home group, or even friends and family who visit. We’ve opened up our home to two ladies in their 20s who are currently in a transitional period of life. They’ve become like family to us and we love spending time with them and getting to walk through life with them.
