About Us
We actually grew up in the same town, and briefly dated when we were 15 years old. We reconnected through a mutual friend when we were both home during Christmas break of our senior years of college. We just celebrated 10 years of marriage! We both grew up with one sibling each, and knew from early on that we wanted a big family with lots of kids. We imagined our future with a house full of kids, fun, laughter, and play. We have a start on this with 3 biological kids, but we feel God calling us to continue to expand our family through adoption. The built in friendship of siblings has been so sweet, and such a gift to us and our boys. There is always someone to play, create, adventure, and explore with. The boys love our friends babies, and are SO excited to add another sibling to their ”crew.”
We host Easter and Christmas at our house every year and love having a full house. In the summertime, we take annual trips to both the lake and the beach with Kristen’s family (her parents, brother, his wife, and their 2 kids). We have all of our extended family nearby and have a large support system! We have also recently started camping as a family, and are looking forward to more trips. The kids have so much fun hiking, swimming, playing flashlight tag, and roasting hot dogs and s’mores!
Faith is the foundation of our family, so a lot of our traditions center around our faith in Jesus. In November, we have a gratitude pumpkin. Every night at dinner, we write things we are thankful for on our pumpkin. In December, we set up a "Giving Manger" to practice kindness and love towards others, and remind the kids (and ourselves) that Christmas is all about God's greatest gift to us! On Christmas morning, we make a cake and sing happy birthday to Jesus before unwrapping gifts.
