When I found out I was pregnant, I was scared out of my mind.

I had no idea what to do, how to do it, or who to tell. I immediately thought about abortion, as do many women. However, the more I thought about this, the more I realized I could never live with that decision.

After putting a lot of thought into it I realized that adoption was the best decision. I came to this because I wanted her to have everything she needs in life but I’m in no position to support myself yet, let alone a child.

Once I went to the doctor, they gave me a reference for Legacy Adoptions. After starting the process I realized I’d always know that she was in a good place and would be surrounded with love.

However, there are benefits and challenges that come along with adoption. It’s such a special gift to give someone and you’ll always know that your baby is loved and is getting what you might not be able to provide them. This experience also showed me I shouldn’t be so carefree because I’m not ready to be a parent. To make this decision, you also need to be prepared emotionally.
The hardest thing I’ve ever had to do was handing over my baby to another family after everything I’d done and not go home with her in my arms. I do know that I made the best decision for her and for me though and I feel adoption is a wonderful option.
