I never imagined that I would be in the situation that I would even have to consider placing my child up for adoption. However, God had a different plan for me, my one-year-old son, and my unborn child.
Shortly after moving my one-year-old son and I back home from living with his father, that’s when I found out I was pregnant. The father wanted nothing to do with the pregnancy and told me this was my problem not his. Not knowing where to turn or what to do, I ignored the problem and went on with my day-to-day life as if nothing had changed.
I knew I would have to face the pregnancy sooner or later, so I finally reached out to Legacy Adoptions for some guidance. I met with a counselor at their office with my mom. I didn’t know what to expect but, she seemed nice. We talked about my life goals, which honestly, was nice. Then, I talked of the circumstances for my decision; I knew I was not going to be able to parent another child alone. Not because I wasn’t capable, but because I knew that in doing so, my son would have to make many sacrifices that I wasn’t willing to let him make.
My counselor worked with me throughout the process. I knew that adoption was the only way to give my child one of the most rewarding blessings; a loving family and stable home. I chose to place my child for adoption and share him with a beautiful and loving family that would provide, love, and nurture this gift from God.
Placing my child up for adoption was one of the hardest yet rewarding things I’ve ever done. Everyday I have a full heart because I know I’ve made the right decision. I was able to build an amazing relationship with his parents, which gave me a piece of mind when following through with my decision. Rachel and Larry are a miracle and I thank God everyday that I was able to bless such an amazing couple.
I am at peace with my decision and I am very happy that my baby will have a big brother who was also adopted to watch over him. Obviously, he’ll have wonderful adoptive parents watching him over too. But, I’m thankful for Legacy helping me find this amazing family for my child.
