We go WAY back...
We met in first grade Sunday School and grew up going to church together. Our dads were good friends who played in the worship band together, and Lauren’s older brother was good friends with Bjorn. Senior year of high school we finally took notice of each other, and the rest is history! We started dating right before graduation, went off to college in opposite directions, and kept our relationship going across the miles with endless phone calls, letters, and texts. After 5 years of loving each other from afar, we got married and finally got to see each other every day! We’ve now been together for 18 years and married for 13. It may sound cliche, but we really are best friends and our bond has only strengthened through all these years together. We’ve grown tremendously in how we communicate and serve others as a team, we’ve challenged each other to move outside of our comfort zones, and we’ve become better people and better partners because of it. We’ve worked together to build a home and a simple life filled with contentment. We truly desire each other’s company and enjoy and appreciate the ease of our relationship.
Bjorn is wise and always willing to listen. He’s serious about his faith, and regularly study’s God’s word and helps out at our church. He is quick to lend a helping hand to friends and those in our community, is fantastic at building and fixing things around the house, and is so smart! He works as a Mechanical Engineer designing new products, and that creativity is super evident at home too in the ways he comes up with to engage Maggie in play. He’s a responsible and attentive caretaker and is always looking for ways to help out and make Lauren and Maggie feel loved and taken care of. He’s such a loving and nurturing husband and dad!
Lauren loves being a stay at home mom, and enjoys the openness this gives to her days with Maggie. She has a group of close friends she spends time with regularly, and she intentionally looks for ways to nurture and bless her friends and community. Lauren is a deep thinker who isn’t afraid to challenge her own thinking and change her mind, has a great sense of humor, and is such a nurturing and loving momma! She cooks a wide variety of yummy foods, keeps the household on budget, and is always dreaming up some new project or adventure. Most of all, Lauren loves spending quality time with those she loves.
We always get together with family to celebrate the holidays. We usually hang out most of the day and share a delicious meal together. Our Christmas Eve tradition is to attend the candlelight service at church together, then head to a buffet in town - this is the one holiday we don't cook for! After dinner we head back to one of our homes for presents and home made dessert. The kids eventually head bed, and the adults stay up visiting and enjoying more time together!
