4 Adoption Questions Most Commonly Asked By Birth Mothers

infant adoptionIf you have become pregnant and want to consider all of your options, then it is a great first step you clicked on this page. Placing your child up for an infant adoption is an incredibly selfless decision, and one that should not be taken lightly. Our adoption agency receives multiple questions concerning the entire process, and here we have answered some common questions to help you get a better idea of what to expect.

1. When can I contact the adoption center and am I obligated to choose adoption?
No matter how far along you are in your pregnancy, or if your child is already born, we can help you. Contact us as soon as you feel comfortable, and we will set you up with an experienced adoption counselor so you cant discuss where you would like your journey to go. And no, you are never obligated to choose adoption unless you are 100% comfortable.

2. Will I have to pay for my adoption?
Generally speaking, all of your expenses will be covered by the adoptive parents. We will do whatever we can to make your adoption affordable.

3. Do I have a say in the adoptive family?
Yes, every decision is up to you. At the beginning of your process you will receive a packet of bios from all our prospective families, and you will be given the opportunity to meet them before you make your choice. Each couple is different, and you will see families of all shapes and sizes. For example, 70.2% of people who adopt are married couples, 22.7% are single females, 5.5% are unmarried couples, and 1.6% are single males.

4. Can I have a relationship with the baby?
Yes. You will work with the adoptive couple in order to come up with a plan that you are comfortable with. Options range from completely open with the ability for multiple visits and interaction, semi-closed with photos, Skype calls, and letters, or closed where you will not have contact. Again, all choices are made with your comfort in mind.

Infant adoption is no easy choice. If you have any questions or are interested in learning more about adoption as a whole, do not hesitate to contact our center today.
