Call our 24-hour hotline at (817) 899-5000
Worrying about a pregnancy doesn’t just occur between the hours of 8am and 5pm. You may wake up feeling anxious. You might have trouble falling asleep. Perhaps you are tossing and turning throughout the night.
If this describes you, we invite you to call our 24-hour hotline (817-899-5000) for counseling. One of our Texas adoption counselors will pick up, no matter the time of day. We have many years of experience helping women when they need it, be it the crack of dawn or in the middle of the night.
Unplanned pregnancy counseling doesn’t always result in adoption
We aren’t here to convince you to place your child for adoption. This would be unethical and unhealthy, both for you and your child. A woman’s decision to place her child for adoption must be fully her own.
We’re here to neutrally listen, ask questions and offer you resources. Sometimes this ultimately results in an adoption decision, but it doesn’t always. The important thing is that you reach a decision you feel at peace with.
What to expect when you call us
Although every situation is unique, common themes often come up during our unplanned pregnancy counseling sessions. Our Texas adoption counselors often work through the following topics with expectant mothers.
- Your pregnancy options. These options include parenting and adoption. We want you to be aware of all the risks, costs and health implications of each of these scenarios. We can answer questions and provide important thoughts for each path.
- Fears about adoption. Women worry that their child will grow up feeling like they were “given up” at birth. They are grieved by the thought of never seeing their child again. They stress about their family’s reaction to this choice. Fortunately, these fears subside once they learn how adoption has changed over the last 40 years. Due to modern adoption practices, adolescent adoptees today report positive feelings toward their birth mother. Adoptive and birth families also stay in touch over the years.
- Whether adoption is the right choice for you. After one or many unplanned pregnancy counseling sessions, you may decide that adoption is not the path for you and that’s okay. Our goal is to help you gain enough peace to make the right decision for you.
